Elderly man scammed out of $4,000
An elderly man was scammed out of $4,000 police in Lehigh County.
Upper Macungie Township police said the man, 73, of Breinigsville, received a phone call stating his grandson had been in an car crash.
The callers persuaded the man to purchase $4,000 in Target gift cards and provide the numbers over the phone to pay for his grandson’s bail. The victim did this and didn’t find out until after giving the numbers to the caller that it was a scam.
