Eldred plans veterans program

Published November 09. 2018 11:59AM

This Sunday the Eldred Township Veterans Committee is holding a program in honor of Veterans Day.

The program will take place at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial located in front of the township building.

The U.S. Army ROTC from East Stroudsburg University will be in attendance, and Rosie Terillo will lead the singing of the national anthem, “God Bless America” and “America the Beautiful.”

Invited speakers include state Sen. Mario Scavello, R-40, and state Rep. Jack Rader, R-176.

According to organizer Diane Huber, past members of the committee will be remembered as well.

“Of the 28 original members of the committee, 25 have passed on,” Huber said. “We will have refreshments and memorabilia inside the township building after the program. We will have artifacts from the original committee, including a model of the memorial on display.”

Earlier this year the township supervisors approved the cleaning and re-landscaping of the memorial. The event will take place rain or shine this Sunday.
