Endangered bird in Mahoning

A juvenile yellow-crowned night heron perches on a car in a lot in Mahoning Township. The bird, listed as endangered in Pennsylvania, may have been pushed into the area by the storms and flooding in the center of the state. According to the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s website the only known breeding site in Pennsylvania is an urban setting in Dauphin County.
