Extended school year program approved for students with special needs

Starting in July, an extended school year program will be held for students with special needs at Slatington Elementary School.

The school board unanimously agreed on Monday to approve the program, which will run from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, from July 9-26.

As part of the program, the board agreed to employ Everly Kesack, Kayla Perkowski, and Ryan Stilwell for four hours per day at the Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement amount of $30 per hour.

The board also agreed to employ paraprofessionals Joan DeSousa, Tara Hengst, Heather Kuntz, Andrea Rosario, and Stephanie Stilwell for three hours per day at their agreed upon the 2018-19 hourly rate.

The board also approved to employ Tracy Hoffman as a school nurse, and Dawn Tulio as a substitute nurse, at the Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement amount of $30 per hour.
