Fall events
• Jim Thorpe: Fall Foliage Festival, Oct. 13-14 and 20-21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
• Jim Thorpe Rotary GhostWalks in Old Mauch Chunk. Meet a costumed GhostGuide at the Inn at Jim Thorpe, 24 Broadway at 7 and 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 7 p.m. on Sundays during October for a one-hour, 1-mile walk on Broadway. • People’s EC Church is hosting Fall Fest from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 12 at 216 Wagner St., Lehighton. Free food, games, and crafts for everyone. Fall Fest will be kid-friendly, serving as an alternative activity to the dark, spooky events normally associated with Halloween. Kids will love being a game-piece in our life-size Bible adventures game. There will be plenty of candy to take home as well. Stick around for the warm food as we welcome the brisk fall season. There will also be face painting and animal balloons.
• Walnutport Canal Festival will be held Oct. 20-21.
• Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission is hosting a haunted trail event on Oct. 20. The Friendly Trail is 5-6:30 p.m. and the Haunted Trail is 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at Zacharias Pond Park. Rain date is Oct. 21, same times.
• Rush Township Police Department’s inaugural 5K Run/Walk, will be held in conjunction with a Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 27, 1-4 p.m., in the Hometown Farmers Market parking lot. Participants can register for the 5K at www.rushtownship.org and anyone interested in participating in the “Trunk or Treat” can call the township office directly at 570-668-2938. The event will include a costume contest, a trunk decoration contest, food, games and lots of candy.
• Scarecrow Build & Pet Parade on Oct. 27 at the Ross Township Park in Saylorsburg. Build your scarecrow from 10 a.m. to noon. Frame and straw supplied, you bring clothes, accessories and imagination. Join the Pet Parade at noon. Prizes for scariest, cutest, most original. All pets are welcome.
• The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 927 is hosting a free Halloween party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27. Costumes encouraged. The party is open to the community for children up to age 12. There will be games, contests and prizes. A light lunch will be served to the children only, with complimentary coffee for the adults. Children must be registered by Oct. 20 at the American Legion Post 927 off Route 209 at 646 Fairground Road in Gilbert (with Army Tank). No phone reservations taken. Space is limited to 75 children. Sign up table is in the lobby.

• 111th annual Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade: 6 p.m. Oct. 27. The rain date is 6 p.m. Oct. 28.

• Chestnuthill Township: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
• East Penn Township: 6-9 p.m. Oct. 31.
• Eldred Township: 2-3:30 p.m. Oct. 27, trunk or treat at the Eldred Township Community Center. Trick or treat: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
• Franklin Township: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31
• Jim Thorpe: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31
• Lansford: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31
• Lehighton: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31
• Lower Towamensing: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27.
• Nesquehoning: Trick or treat: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Trunk or treat, 5-8 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Nesquehoning Hose Company, rain or shine. To register a vehicle to distribute treats, call the borough office at 570-669-9588 or 570-669-6124. Participants who register a vehicle can set up at 5 p.m. and candy distribution begins at 6.
