Fast-moving fire destroys home in Eldred
A home was destroyed by a fast moving fire Monday evening in Eldred Township.
The blaze was first reported just off Silver Spring Boulevard north of Kunkletown as a kitchen fire just after 6 p.m. but spread rapidly.
When firefighters from numerous communities arrived on scene flames were pouring from the single family wood frame dwelling.
Silver Springs Boulevard was closed between Mauch Chunk Road and Borger Road for about an hour.
Smoke from the fire was scene in Lehighton 20 miles away.
A resident in Slatington spotted the smoke reported a fire on the Blue Mountain. No injuries were reported in the incident.
