Federal trial scheduled for Christy

Shawn Christy, the McAdoo man who led authorities on a 3-month multistate manhunt last summer, will be in federal court in May.

Christy’s federal trial will begin at 9:30 a.m. May 6, according to Dawn Clark, public affairs specialist for the United States Attorney’s Office, Middle District Court of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.

Christy, 27, had appeared in Schuylkill County Court on March 22 and gotten a continuance for his trial on Schuylkill County charges.

The Schuylkill charges include four felony counts of aggravated assault and two counts of simple assault stemming from an alleged attack on Stephan Holly in 2017, when Holly was Mayor of McAdoo. According to the police report, Christy swung a stick at Holly during an argument involving snow removal.

Christy had also threatened to shoot President Donald Trump and Northampton District Attorney John Morganelli.

Christy went on the run after failing to appear in Schuylkill County Court on May 30, 2018.

Federal charges include three counts of threats against the president of the United States, interstate communications — threats to law enforcement officers, and two counts each transmitting threatening communications, interstate communications — threats to injure another person, interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle, interstate transportation of a stolen firearm, interstate transportation of a firearm while under an information for a felony offense, transport firearm interstate by a felon, fugitive in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm.
