Fern Ridge police report crashes
State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:
• A crash occurred about 10:32 a.m. on Nov. 7 along Evergreen Hollow Road, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Thomas S. Wentz, 55, of Stroudsburg, was operating a 2004 Ford Explorer eastbound when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The Ford overturned one and one quarter times before coming to rest in the eastbound lane on the driver’s side.
Wentz was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Troopers said Wentz was delivering mail for the U.S. Postal Service at the time. The post master at the Effort Post Office responded to the scene and took charge of the mail. The Explorer had to be towed.
West End Fire Company volunteers also assisted at the scene. Wentz was cited for the crash.
• A crash involving a pedestrian was reported on Nov. 8 at 2:50 p.m. along Kinsley Drive in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Thomas P. Smith, 60, of Saylorsburg, was operating a 2011 Ford Escape southbound and attempting to turn left into a local business while Eugene P. Rodrigo, 65, of Brodeadsville, was walking out of the parking lot of the business. The Ford struck Rodrigo causing injuries to his hip.
Rodrigo was taken by West End ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital — Monroe Campus, Bartonsville.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 6:37 p.m. Nov. 9 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Robert C. Hamlin II, 21, of Plain City, Ohio, was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer eastbound when he lost control. The Explorer hit the guard rail along the right shoulder, traveled down an embankment and came to rest.
Hamlin and his passenger, Roberta A. Hamlin, 51, same address, were injured and taken to the Geisinger Medical Center, Plains Township, Luzerne County, by Lake Harmony ambulance. The Explorer had to be towed.
Hamlin was cited for the crash.
• A crash was reported at 2:53 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the intersection of Rising Hill and West View drives in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said John E. Reynolds, 49, of Kunkletown, was attempting to turn onto West Valley Road from Rising Hill Road to go north when his 2014 Dodge Caravan was struck by a 2013 Hyundai Sonata operated by Jamysia A. Brown, 25, of Saylorsburg, who had just come over a hill on West Valley Road.
Reynolds was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital — Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Brown was not injured.
Reynolds was cited for the crash.
• Troopers investigated a crash on Nov. 1 at 3:09 p.m. along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said a 2006 Audi A6, driven by Sylvanna A. Smith, 58, of Tobyhanna, struck a utility pole along the berm and then hit a 2016 BMW operated by Walter M. Quinn, 75, of Mountainhome, Monroe County. No injuries were reported.
