Fern Ridge state police release details of crashes

Fern Ridge State Police reported investigating the following crashes:

• Two vehicles were towed from the scene of a crash at 8:27 p.m. May 20 at the intersection of Route 715 and Quail Court in Jackson Township. No one was injured.

Police said a 2016 Ford F-350 driven by George W. Newhart, 58, of Stroudsburg, was eastbound on Quail Court when Newhart turned left onto Route 715 and the truck collided with a 2005 Mercedes-Benz operated by Sharon L. Barabas, 37, of Stroudsburg, who was northbound on Route 715 at the time. After the impact, the truck went onto a nearby lawn, while the Mercedes crashed into a sign and a tree.

• A 2006 Chevrolet van sustained minor damage when its driver sideswiped a mailbox at 6 p.m. May 16 along Overview Terrace in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the vehicle was westbound when the driver failed to stay in the lane of travel and the van struck the mailbox causing minor front-end damage.

The driver was not identified.

• Two vehicles sustained minor damage in a crash at 3:41 p.m. May 22 at the intersection of Route 209 and the Rite Aid parking lot in Chestnuthill Township.

Police did not provide the names of the drivers, but said a 2017 Subaru outback was exiting the lot when the driver failed to yield the right of way and entered the highway, crashing into a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan that was northbound on Route 209.

No one was injured in the incident.

• Two drivers and two passengers were uninjured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:24 p.m. May 3 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said Ann R. Guzzi, 75, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer northbound on Route 115 when she failed to stay in her lane of travel and the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, crashing into the driver’s side rear of a 2018 Ford F350 operated southbound by Ricardo H. Rivera, 29, of Easton.

The Explorer sustained disabling front end damage while the damage to the F350 was termed minor.

The two passengers were with Rivera.

• Damian Wasieczko, 19, of Effort, was cited for failure to yield at a posted sign after a two-vehicle crash at 2:46 p.m. May 16 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2005 Toyota 4Runner when he failed to yield and entered Route 115, where the vehicle struck a 2016 Honda Accord driven by Donna J. Steo, 54, of Saylorsburg, who was northbound on Route 115 at the time.

Neither driver was hurt.

• Alberto L. Ward, 54, of the Bronx, New York, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 2:05 p.m. May 23 on McMichaels Court.

Police said he was southbound when he lost control of the 2015 Dodge Ram truck and struck a tree on the right side of the roadway.

He was not injured. The vehicle sustained front-end damages and was towed from the scene.

• Police investigated a one-vehicle mishap at 2:49 p.m. May 28 on Route 715 in Jackson Township, where a deer entered the roadway and was struck by a 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

Police said Florin G. Dragomir, 43, of Tobyhanna, was northbound near the intersection with Willow Run lane when the collision happened. He was uninjured.

The vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.

• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle incident at 2:42 p.m. May 29 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Brian K. Benoit, 57, of Brodheadsville, “rear-ended” a 2013 Freightliner operated by Lee Gleim, 46, of East Stroudsburg.

The incident occurred about 328 feet west of Lake Mineola Road.

• Jordan A. McLaughlin, 20, of Nazareth, escaped injury when a car he was driving struck a deer head-on at 8:57 p.m. May 7 on East Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township.

Policesaid he was driving too fast in a 2017 Toyota Camry and couldn’t avoid hitting the deer. McLaughlin was not injured.

• Two vehicles were damaged in an incident at 4:59 p.m. May 22 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said John M. Scavo, 28, of Blakeslee, was driving a 2006 Chrysler 300 northbound on Route 209 and was behind a 2016 Hyundai Elantra operated by Tonya D. Barnett, 66, of Easton, when he became distracted and failed to stop in time as the Elantra slowed down, striking it from behind. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Police said Barnett was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, by the West End Ambulance corps.

Scavo was cited for following too closely, police said.

• William M. Mayo, 61, of Albrightsville, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 1:06 p.m. May 4 at the intersection of Route 115 and State Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg, in the West End Ambulance after complaining of right arm pain.

Police said he was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry north on Route 115 and crashed into the rear of a 2005 Saturn Vue driven by Melanie A. Keiter, 33, of Effort. The latter was stopped at the traffic signal at the intersection when the vehicle was struck from behind.

Police said Noah S. Keiter, 36, of Effort, a passenger in the Vue, complained of back pain but declined a transport by emergency personnel.

Mayo was cited for following too closely.
