Girard Fewins has been re-elected as president of the Weatherly Area School Board with Chad Obert being voted into the vice president role. Brian O’Donnell and Shay Wagner were also sworn in before the meeting took place Wednesday.

Former vice present and long time board member Amy Potsko stepped down from the board.

Four residents came to the school before the meeting to apply for Potsko’s open seat.

“We have four great candidates but only room for one,” said board member Matthew vonFrisch.

“Whoever we don’t choose, don’t be discouraged and please apply again,” he said.

The board discussed the agenda for next week’s business meeting.

On the list was a recommendation to remove Gerard Grega from his seat.

“On the issue of not having the ninth board member present and not being contacted, it has really disrupted the board’s business,” said President Fewins.

Also recommended to be voted on next week was approving Jennifer Dempsey as a volunteer assistant junior high boys’ basketball coach and Nathan Zink as a volunteer weight room supervisor.

The board will vote next week on the approval of a three-year contract between the district and J.P. Mascaro & Sons for trash hauling at $862 per month.

According to the Business Manager Peter Bard, the company was the lowest of three bidders for the contract.

The board will appoint a new board member at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Middle School LGI room.

This meeting is open to the public.
