The Lansford Fire Company held their monthly fundraiser on Sunday. They’ve been holding monthly breakfast since 1982. The breakfast is always held the second Sunday of each month from September through April with summers off.

The fire company purchases all supplies and food for the fundraiser. All involved are volunteers who help to cook, prep and serve food as well as wash dishes on the day of the breakfast. Redner’s helps by offering them a discount for items such as eggs, juice and cream chipped beef.

“All proceeds from the breakfast go to support the mission of the fire department,” said their president, Kevin J. Rutch.

Remaining funds go directly toward monthly bills for the building, including utilities, building loans and equipment maintenance.

Most of the current customers are returning supporters, and on a regular breakfast Sunday, nearly 115 are served.

“The idea came from our predecessors in the fire company,” Rutch said. “We’ve just continued the fundraiser.”

The next breakfast will be held from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Lansford Fire Company.

This year, there will be no breakfast in April due to the date falling on Easter.
