A quick response by area fire companies saved a home after a fire broke out Sunday night in Aquashicola.

Aquashicola Fire Chief Bill George said the fire broke out at 7:23 p.m. at the home at 60 Mill Road.

“They knocked it down quickly,” George said. “It was mostly smoking at the time.”

George said there are seven occupants; four adults and three children, ages 6, 8 and 11, who reside at the home.

He said there were no injuries.

“There was some damage to the third floor,” George said. “They were able to continue to live at the residence.”

George said the fire was electrical in nature, adding that there were multiple extension cords plugged together.

He said firefighters were on scene for about an hour-and-a-half.

George said also assisting at the scene were the Palmerton Fire Department, Walnutport Rapid Intervention Team, and Palmerton Ambulance.

“They were lucky that we got there and that someone saw it when they did,” he said. “Turned out to be a pretty easy. Firemen did a good job.”
