Firetruck brings Santa to Summit Hill
The arrival of Santa weeks before Christmas has become tradition in many local communities.
Sunday night, he arrived in Summit Hill in a firetruck during the town’s Christmas on the Hill festivities.
The event was sponsored by the Summit Hill Recreation Commission.
About 150 people attended, many of them children who sat on Santa’s lap and gave him their Christmas wish lists.
Christmas on the Hill was held in the area of the gazebo.
Members of the Children’s Choir of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church sang Christmas songs. They were led by choir director Kathy Crampsie.
Jenny Kosciolek, treasurer of the Recreation Commission, said the group gave hot chocolate, cookies and candy canes to each child. Santa also gave each youngster an ornament.
Recreation Commission President Jodi McAndrew gave special thanks to borough workers Ronald Yuricheck and John Poko, who cleared the pathways in the park on their day off for the program. She also thanked the Diligence Fire Company for delivering Santa and members of the National Honor Society of Panther Valley High School who assisted.
