Florida man jailed after 100 mph chase
A Florida man was jailed on Sunday after leading police on a high-speed chase.
State police at Fern Ridge said troopers were conducting a traffic enforcement operation along Interstate 80 westbound in Kidder Township, Carbon County, when a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu, with New York registration, entered the area traveling in excess of 100 mph. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop and continued onto Route 115 and into the Liberty service station.
At this point the driver traveled back onto I-80 westbound at a high rate of speed again, but finally stopped near mile marker 282. The driver was identified as Keethan Whittaker, 29, of North Miami Beach.
He was taken into custody and charge with fleeing and eluding along with other charges. He was placed in the Monroe County prison in Snydersville on several felony counts, troopers said.
