Flu shots offered in Tamaqua schools
The Tamaqua Area School District has partnered with Health Hero PA to offer a school located flu vaccination clinic. Injectable flu vaccines will be available in the Tamaqua Area School District on Nov. 13.
Letters with consent forms have been sent to the parents/guardians of all students in the district, offering details of the program.
Flu is among the top vaccine-preventable illnesses, with between 25 million and 50 million cases reported each year in the United States. Schools are considered the perfect atmosphere to be virus incubators, as children are efficient virus spreaders, claiming the crown as having the highest rates of infection.
The Health Hero program is totally voluntary and has been safely immunizing children for years. Clinics are overseen by doctors and shots are given by licensed professionals.
Consent forms are required and completed forms must be returned to the schools by Nov. 3.
