Food project helps 34 for holiday

    Seven Tamaqua churches worked together to provide 34 families in the Tamaqua area with everything needed for a Fourth of July picnic. The picnic items were distributed a few days before the midweek holiday. Pictured are Pastor Cindy White, Colton Becker, Mary Ruth Taylor and Judy Brennan, members of the Zion Lutheran Outreach Team, as they prepare the picnic bags of food. Other churches that participated included Bethany ECC, Primitive Methodist, St. John’s UCC, St. John XXIII, St. John’s Lutheran and Trinity UCC. Each bag contained hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, baked beans, condiments, pickles, drink mixes, freezer pops, pretzels or chips, and mac and cheese kits. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
