Former state trooper gets probation in DUI case

A former state trooper who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges was sentenced on Friday in Carbon County court by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Michael Sniscak, 47, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on probation for six months as a first offender and ordered to pay a fine of $300. Sniscak was a state trooper at the time of the arrest on June 14, 2016, along Route 903 in Albrightsville, filed by Kidder Township police. A test revealed a 0.12 BAC. He has since resigned his position. He was also ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

The case was prosecuted by the state Attorney General’s office. The county district attorney’s office recused itself from the case.
