Four are jailed on intent to deliver charges

Four people were committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Snydersville, after a traffic stop made by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks at 5:53 p.m. June 21 on Interstate 80 westbound in Tobyhanna Township.

Mariah Mae Burkett, 23, and Guillermo Polanco, 39, both of Johnstown, and Francisco Rey, 22, and Christopher Martinez, 25, both of New York, New York, were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Police said Burkett was driving the vehicle that was stopped, after which time police learned there was a warrant for her arrest out of Cambria County. A state police K-9 dog was brought to the scene and detected the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. In the execution of a search warrant, police seized about 78 grams of heroin and 3,600 empty glassine baggies.

Martinez was also found to be wanted out of New York, police said.
