Franklin accepts settlement agreement and release for dismissed officer

Franklin Township has approved a settlement agreement with a former police officer.

On a unanimous measure, supervisors on Tuesday accepted the settlement agreement and release regarding employee no. 31.

After the meeting, supervisors declined to name the person, but confirmed it was an officer from the police department.

The township has not released the agreement.

In October 2017, supervisors on a 2-0 vote accepted the recommendation of then acting police Chief Jason Doll to terminate an unnamed employee for willful misconduct.

About 25 residents attended that meeting, many of whom asked the board to disclose the reason why the board was considering taking the action against the employee.

Throughout that meeting, supervisors refused to identify the employee except as employee no. 31, as well as the reason for their action, because it was a personnel issue. The employee was not in attendance, nor was Doll.

After that meeting, then board Chairman Rod Green said the township had two full-time officers including Doll and Frank Buonaiuto, along with six part-timers.

The other full-time officer listed on the township’s website at that time was Frank Lorah.
