Franklin to apply for LSA grant for police department
Franklin Township intends to apply for funding for equipment for its police department.
Supervisors on Tuesday unanimously agreed to adopt a resolution requesting a Local Share Account grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
If received, the grant would be used to purchase a 2020 Responder W1P; license plate reader; and Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 with all accessories needed and installing fees.
It would also designate the chairman of the board of supervisors and the secretary-treasurer to execute all documents and agreements.
The board’s action came after it agreed earlier to rescind a resolution requesting an LSA grant in the amount of $92,492.
Supervisor Robin Cressley questioned why the new LSA grant request since there was a difference in the amounts.
Township secretary Brenda Neeb said that’s because the police department received a better quote on the license plate reader.
