Franklin officials release identity of terminated officer

Published October 23. 2019 01:12PM

Two years after they dismissed a police officer for willful misconduct, Franklin Township officials have finally agreed to release his identity and settlement agreement.

Franklin Lorah, an officer from August 2007 through October 2017, has been paid a lump sum of $25,000.

At a special meeting on Oct. 26, 2017, township supervisors on a 2-0 vote accepted the recommendation of then acting police Chief Jason Doll to terminate an unnamed employee for willful misconduct.

About 25 residents attended the meeting, many of whom asked the board to disclose the reason why the board was taking the action against the employee, identified as No. 31.

The employee was not in attendance, nor was Doll.

On May 15, the township approved a settlement with Lorah, in agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police Schuylkill-Carbon Lodge 13.

Through a right to know request, the township has named the officer as Frank Lorah and released details of his settlement.

On May 22, the Times News submitted a right to know request to the township.

Initially, the township released the agreement in July, but redacted Lorah’s name. The Times News appealed to the Office of Open Records and obtained the name.

Lorah is not eligible for pension as he has not worked 12 years for the township and is not 55 years old.

Under the negotiations, which began February 2018, the township has agreed to provide a neutral reference for Lorah.

I got a "neutral reference" once. Luckily, a future employer ignored it and hired me regardless. Neutral references are not worth the paper they are printed on.
TN should do a RTK request at Franklin PD for Dec 18th, 2018 and their involvement in the shooting.
They already made the conclusion that they did everything by the book. And of course the district attorney signed off on the police officers conduct that day. But you know as well as I do that the man that died in that shooting was black. And I guarantee he didnt have a weapon. Get a badge and it comes with a get out of jail free card for shooting people while on duty.
Thing that bothers me about all this is why in the hell was the officer fighting with the man, WHILE holding his gun. He is either a simpleton, which describes 95% of all cops in the area, or this new "shoot now, we'll cover your ass later" thing that seems to be infiltrating the police across the country has finally made its way to our area
The hang em high jury reveals a hatred toward Police, but no bias here Judge, sit back and watch em hang.
Seriously... On December 18, 2018, a man who lead Officers from more than just Franklin Twp. on a Seventeen (17) mile chase, was shot. Bottom line? Pull over and cooperate. It's apparent we have entered the later days of a civilization, to where lawlessness prevails.
A 17 mile police chase for what originally started as a simple moving violation. Lives were recklessly put in danger that day by every department involved and a life was lost. How's that for some lawlessness?
I don't hate cops. Actually have a little fetish for them. ;-) I don't like the officers who think they can do whatever they want just because they have a badge and a gun. Also the one's that violate our basic human rights and the ones that kill innocent people are ones I am not too fond of.
