FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:

• Agreed to hire David Roberts, Brian Stern and John Orsulak as part-time police officers, at the salary of $19 an hour.

• Announced there will be a change for the garbage collection day for Good Friday. Instead, the garbage will be collected this Thursday.

• Announced the Franklin Township Lions Club will hold its Annual Trout Fishing Contest on May 11.

• Announced the Pohopoco Rod and Gun Club will hold its Annual Youth Fishing Day on May 19, beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at 1 p.m. The event is open to any youth 15 years and younger who are children or grandchildren of members of the military or military veterans and/or involved with the Girl or Boy Scouts.

• Announced that beginning midnight May 11, until June 10, the stocked pond only will be restricted for fishing only to any youth 15 years of age and younger.

• Reminded that a driveway permit must be obtained if paving an existing driveway or repaving a driveway. There is no charge for the driveway permit.

• Adopted an ordinance amendment to all previous township ordinances affecting the amounts charged by the township for the issuances of any permits.

• Agreed to reinvest a maturing CD (First Internet Bank of Indiana, Indiana), which matures on April 22.

• Approved a request from the Lehigh Township board of supervisors asking the Franklin Township fire police to assist with traffic control on April 27 during the Memorial Motorcycle Ride to benefit the Miller family (fire victims).

• Agreed to bid on various materials, with bids to be opened at the May 21 board of supervisors meeting.
