Franklin Township Supervisors
Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:
• Granted PSI Pumping Solutions a time extension to complete the State Road Pump Station repair project until Dec. 31.
• Ratified the agreement between the township and the Fraternal Order of Police representing the township police department for the time period of Jan. 1, 2020, to Dec. 31, 2024.
• Adopted “Franklin Township’s Peddlers Ordinance” establishing policies and procedures for people seeking to conduct business within the township via door-to-door solicitation.
• Advertised an ordinance “requiring certain structures to have a key lock box installed on exterior of the structure to aid the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company in gaining access to the structure when responding to emergency calls.”
• On a 2-0 vote, with an abstention from Supervisor Barbara Beltz, authorized Girard Pension Services as trustee to adjust eligible retired police officer Thomas Beltz’s COLA at a rate of 1.6%, effective Jan. 1, 2020.
• Agreed to terminate officer Michael Fedor’s probationary period per the recommendation letter received from police Chief Jason Doll, retroactive to Oct. 8.
• Authorized the township secretary to advertise the board’s intent to appoint Independent Auditors to audit all of the township’s 2019 accounts.
• Approved Palmerton Borough’s request for the township fire police to assist with traffic control for the Bo Tkach Turkey Trot on Nov. 28.
