Friends of animals sponsors ‘Rockin Rescue’ fundraiser in July
Carbon County Friends of Animals and the Animal Shelter of Carbon are getting ready for the eighth annual Rockin’ Rescue fundraiser.
The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 14, will be held at The Grove, located at South Seventh and Iron streets in Lehighton.
Rockin’ Rescue brings together animal care education and resources for a day full of music, car shows, food and family fun. All proceeds from the event benefit CCFOA’s animal cruelty fund and the Animal Shelter of Carbon, a nonprofit, private organization that assists handicapped animals by making wheelchairs and other animal needs.
The day includes entertainment by Bethlehem Blues, Bees Knees, Senile Delinquents and Bugsys Evolution, beginning at 10 a.m.
A car show, hosted by the Palmerton Pace-Makers Association, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will also be a rabies, microchipping and distemper clinic, hosted by Creature Comforts Vet Clinic. All dogs must be leashed and cats in a carrier.
In addition to events, animal rescues and shelters will have pets available for adoption, as well as information on how to help animals. There will also be a raffle drawing, bake sale, crafters, pet nail clipping and ear cleaning stand, flea market and yard sale and food from local organizations and businesses.
CCFOA is currently collecting donations for its Chinese auction. Donations could be a theme basket or single new item. Items should be dropped off at the shelter no later than June 22.
People who want to participate in the flea market and yard sale must book a table by June 30.
