Gabriella Sabina named a Guiding Star
Each year the Concourse Club of Palmerton honors five Guiding Stars from the Palmerton Area Senior High School. The students are chosen by a committee of high school educators in the district.
A Guiding Star must be a female student in the top 25 percent of the senior class and be involved in both school and community activities. Each Guiding Star receives a certificate, an engraved Guiding Star charm and a $100 cash award.
Gabriella Sabina was selected one of the Guiding Stars for this club year and was recognized at a recent Concourse Club meeting. She is the daughter of Georgina and Michael Sabina.
Gabriella addressed the Concourse Club and recognized her parents, along with three of her teachers: Mrs. Baumgardt, Mrs. Tavella and Mrs. Burke as her guiding stars for the inspiration they have given her.
Gabriella’s hobbies include reading, writing and photography, especially astrophotography, which focuses on stars, the moon and constellations. Her school activities include National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Environmental Club, stage crew, tennis, school newspaper, yearbook and Palmerton Against Animal Cruelty.
She also volunteers with the summer breakfast program and Homework Helpers.
Gabriella has been accepted to Wilkes University’s pharmacy program.
