Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber to host inaugural restaurant week
Food connoisseurs who love to be wined and dined will soon be in luck.
The Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce will host the first ever restaurant week in the Greater Northern Footprint the week of Jan. 20-26.
It covers the boroughs of Slatington, Walnutport, Schnecksville and Neffs, along with Washington, Lehigh, Lynn, Lowhill, Heidelberg and North Whitehall townships.
Patrons are urged to join the chamber in supporting the initiative, according to Rachel Greenawalt, Coordinator, Affiliated Chambers, Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“Any restaurants that are included in these areas are welcomed to participate,” Greenawalt said. “From the restaurants, we put their gift cards on the radio stations and social media to encourage people to eat out that week. We also have posters up all over the surrounding areas letting people know where to look for the menus at.”
Greenawalt said the way it works is each restaurant owner creates a “prix fixe” menu which is good just for that week.
“We are hoping that this a recurring event in future years because it works so well in other communities and draws people from all areas,” she said. “Hoping that this (Jan. 20-26) week encourages people from other areas of the Lehigh Valley to dine here in the Greater Northern Area.”
Greenawalt added, “This is the best time for people to dine; it gives them a taste of what each restaurant can offer and allows people to try new food and new places.”
