Hazleton man jailed after Tamaqua domestic assault
Luis Guillermo Morales, 27, of Hazleton, was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, after Tamaqua police were summoned to a domestic disturbance at 12:03 a.m. Dec. 5 on North Railroad Street.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer on charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly, and jailed in lieu of $5,000 percentage bail.
Police said they were summoned to the apartment by a man who told them he could hear a woman pleading with an assailant to stop hitting and choking her. Upon arrival, the victim told police she tried to get away from Morales, who wrestled her down in the bathroom. Police said the woman had blood on her mouth and jacket and scratches on her face and chest.
Police found Morales hiding in a closet and took him into custody.
