Heritage Center relocates to library building

Published October 23. 2019 01:10PM

The Heritage Center of the Western Pocono Library, located on Route 209, closed its doors on June 15, relocating its historical contents to the library building on Pilgrim Way.

The building on Route 209, which once housed the library itself as well as a bookstore run by the Friends of the WPCL, was sold to ComfortSpec on Aug. 26.

In the weeks before the sale, the contents of the Heritage Center were moved to the Library building for secure storage.

In the future, WPCL plans to dedicate space to local history and display the items that celebrate the area.

“We are so pleased that we will be able to display the items in our library.

We would also like to reassure those who have donated to the Heritage Collection that their items will be appreciated by our patrons for years to come,” said Karin-Susan Breitlauch, DVM, President of the Board of Trustees for Western Pocono Community Library.

For more information about the contents of the Heritage Center or the future displays, contact the Library at 570-992-7934 or Patti Weiss at WPCL6@ptd.net.
