Members of the Jim Thorpe’s Alec Campbell Mauch Chunk Division 1 Ancient Order of the Hibernians met Saturday at Molly Maguires Pub & Steakhouse in Jim Thorpe to prepare food baskets to be delivered to Catholic parishes throughout Carbon County.

In keeping with the Ancient Order of Hibernians’ motto of “Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity, the chapter prepared 11 Thanksgiving baskets.

This is the 10th year that they have prepared these baskets for needy families.

Each basket contained a whole turkey, gravy, potatoes, stuffing mix, corn, green beans, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, and chocolate brownies.

Members delivered food baskets to Immaculate Conception in Jim Thorpe; St. Peter the Fisherman in Lake Harmony; SS Peter and Paul in Lehighton; St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church in Lansford; Sacred Heart in Palmerton; St. Joseph in Summit Hill; and Our Lady of Lourdes in Weatherly.

It will be the decision of the pastor of each parish to decide which family will receive the holiday dinner basket.
