Hiker dies at Hawk Mountain

Several fire companies from Schuylkill and Berks counties are in the process of recovering the body of a hiker from atop Hawk Mountain.

The hiker reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest before noon while on the Skyline trail. Fire fighters from New Ringgold, West Penn, Deer Lake, Auburn and Landingville are attempting to reach the scene off Bear Creek drive while fire units from Berks County are attempting to reach the scene from Hawk Mountain road. It is unknown if the incident is heat related.
