How do you use your cellphone?

Since July is National Cellphone Courtesy Month, we were curious how local folks use their cellphones.

We shared a survey on social media with eight questions ranging from safety issues to simple etiquette.

Regarding safety, an overwhelming majority — 67.39 percent — said they would never text while driving or would do so only in an emergency. But only 10.87 percent said they would never talk while driving, even with a hands-free device.

More than half, 57.61 percent, said they have used their phones to speak or text while in a restaurant, theater or church.

Although many of you said you would never use your cellphone in a public restroom, an equal number, 46.74 percent exactly, didn’t have a problem with chatting in the bathroom.

And while a few people liked the idea of being technology free, there were others who couldn’t bear the idea of going without their phones for too long.

Some, 15.38 percent, thought they could only go an hour without their phone.
