Human services breakfast planned
The Carbon County Collaborative is organizing its 11th annual Human Services Priorities Breakfast for area organizations and the public.
The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to approximately noon on April 24 at Whispering Pines Banquet Hall, located in Penn Forest Township Fire Company No. 1, 1387 Route 903, Jim Thorpe.
This year’s topic is “The 2020 Vision of Carbon County.”
During the event, five speakers will talk about various topics within the county and where the county has gone over the last decade and where the county is going. Speakers include Rick Parsons, chief adult probation officer, who will speak about the re-entry program; Jeanne Miller, who will speak on early education initiatives; the Rev. Allen Hoffa, pastor of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley in Summit Hill, who will talk about the homeless task force; Tina Clymer of Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health/Developmental Services, who will talk about mental health issues; and Sue Zeigler, administrator of the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging, who will talk about the aging population.
Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The breakfast begins at 9 a.m. with the program starting promptly at 9:30.
Registration for the event is now open.
To reserve a seat, mail a check, made payable to the Interagency Council of Carbon County c/o Cindy Lynd, Eastcentral PA AHEC, 5662 Interchange Road, Lehighton, PA 18235. Information that should be included with the check are your organization’s name, address, phone number and email, as well as the names of the people who are attending. The cost per seat is $15.
Deadline to reserve a seat is April 10.
The group is also seeking sponsors for the event.
Sponsors help offset the cost of the brunch, as well as fund future grants that the agency awards.
Sponsorship opportunities are available at $50, $75 or $100 levels.
To become a sponsor, donations can be sent to Interagency Council of Carbon County at the aforementioned address.
