Injuries averted when vehicles hit deer

A vehicle struck a deer on Interstate 78 in Weisenberg Township, according to state police at the Fogelsville.

Police said Joshua P. Thack, 21, of Lehighton, was driving the 2017 Nissan Frontier westbound when it struck the deer near mile marker 44.5, resulting in disabling damages to the vehicle.

Thack and his passengers, Kyle S. Dietz, 38, of Saylorsburg, and Jeremy L. Ruggiero, 42, of Easton, all avoided injuries.

• Patricia A. Wilson, 65, of Tannersville, escaped injuries when a vehicle she was driving struck a deer on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township at 8:58 p.m. June 7.

State police at Lehighton said she was traveling north on Route 903 and was near the intersection of Behrens Road when the deer entered the road from the west berm and was struck by the 2017 Subaru Forester.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and came to rest on the east berm off the roadway.
