Jim Thorpe announces kindergarten registration

The Jim Thorpe Area School District offers a full day kindergarten experience for those students who are 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2020. Registration for the 2020-21 school year will be held as follows:

March 23 and 25: L.B. Morris School, call 570-325-2703.

March 24 and 26: Penn-Kidder Campus, call 570-722-1150.

A parent or legal guardian must call the school office to schedule the appointment. Registrations will not be taken from other family members.

The child does not need to attend the appointment as a prescreening with the child will be held later in the spring.

Before attending this appointment, please go to the Jim Thorpe Area School District website at http://www.jimthorpesd.org and click on the Enrolling Students link on the main page. Information concerning the required documentation to enroll your child is there, along with the link to the online registration system. The online registration link for 2020-21 kindergarten students will be active in early March.

The following documents must be provided at the time of the appointment:

• Proof of student’s age (birth certificate, passport, notarized letter, prior school record)

• Immunization records

• Proof of residency (two, NOT a P.O. box)

• Photo ID

• Custody agreement (if applicable)

• A notarized letter and proof of residence from the homeowner if the parent/guardian and student are not listed on the deed or rental lease.
