Jim Thorpe man cited in hit-and-run
A Jim Thorpe man was cited after he hit a parked vehicle in Nesquehoning and fled the scene.
Nesquehoning police said Stevie Ray Kates of Danner Road, was driving a 1997 Ford Econoline van along East Catawissa Street at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 when he struck a parked vehicle. He then left the scene without notifying the vehicle’s owner.
Police were able to find him in Lansford and identify his vehicle.
He was cited for accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle and careless driving.
At the same time that day, along Route 54, police were also called to a vehicle striking a deer.
The driver in that case was not injured but the vehicle was towed.
