Jim Thorpe roof project to cost $451K

Jim Thorpe Area School Board approved a roof restoration project for the high school at a cost of $451,560.46.

Weatherproofing Technologies Inc. will take the helm for the work. In a proposal letter to director of building and grounds Ted Larizzio, WTI’s senior field adviser Alan Behnke outlined the installation of the Tremco AlphaGuard Fluid Applied Roofing System.

WTI’s bid for the project will include a 20-year quality assurance manufacturer’s warranty with housekeeping and preventive maintenance at year two, five, 10 and 15, along with a 10-year comprehensive roof maintenance program with two visits per year.

The board also approved the following items:

• Marissa Andrews and Melissa Fox as elementary education teachers, with Andrews receiving a salary of $46,345 and Fox receiving $47,345.

• John Ciavarella as the board treasurer.

• Machelle Schlenner as a summer worker at a rate of $8 per hour, with hours to determined by the director of buildings and grounds.

• Elementary education teacher Lindsay Elias’s resignation was accepted.

• The posting of open positions for a computer science/middle school science and an elementary education teacher.

• A motion to convert long-term positions to full-time elementary positions.
