Rob Kovac collected his 200th career coaching win after Jim Thorpe defeated Lincoln Park Academy on Saturday.

In other action, three schools gained wins from both their boys and girls teams. They included Panther Valley, Pleasant Valley, and Tamaqua.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lincoln PA-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe pulled away from Lincoln Park Academy in the second half to collect a 50-35 win at the KSA Holiday Classic Tournament in Orlando.

Kayley Kovac scored 35 points for the Olympians (4-1) and was named tournament MVP.

For head coach Rob Kovac, it marked his 200th career coaching win. The longtime mentor had 99 wins during his tenure at Panther Valley, and now has 101 with the Olympians.

Panther Valley-Hamburg

Panther Valley outscored Hamburg in each frame to take a non-league victory, 55-32.

The Panthers (2-1) received a game-high 19 points from Christina Dacey, while Rachelle Filer added 12.

For Hamburg, Allison Bashore led the way with 10 points.

Hamburg prevailed in the JV contest, 47-10.

Ashley Schwenk scored 11 points to lead the Bears, who jumped out to a 23-7 halftime advantage.

PV, now 2-2, also received 10 points from Masani Francis.

Tamaqua-Tri-Valley

Tamaqua tightened up its defense in the second half to defeat Tri-Valley, 53-28.

The Blue Raiders (4-0) outscored their opponents, 22-9, over the final two quarters. Emma Kuczynski led all scorers with 20 points, while Emily Titus and Kirstin Jones both added 10 apiece.

Jones added nine boards, while Sophia Boyle had seven steals.

For Tri-Valley, Autumn Connell finished with nine points.

Jim Thorpe-Pleasant Valley

A huge second half helped Pleasant Valley pull away from Jim Thorpe for a 56-36 non-league victory.

Noah Neubert had 15 points for the Bears (3-1), while Andrius Harrison-Gaddist added 11.

Chris Valdez scored nine points for the Olympians (2-1), who trailed 19-17 at halftime. Rudy Forman added eight.

Tamaqua posted a 73-57 non-league win over Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg to remain undefeated.

Thad Zuber led the Blue Raiders (4-0) with a game-high 21 points. Lucas Gregoire added 17 points, while Derian Stianche contributed 12.

Tamaqua also won the JV game, 61-39.

Brandywine-Northwestern

Northwestern built a 12-point halftime lead and eventually held off Brandywine Heights for a 67-55 non-league victory.

Samuel Yadush scored 22 points for the Tigers (4-1). Luke Hallman’s 15, Deven Bollinger’s 12 and Sam Seyfried’s 11 provided support.

Drew Miller scored 16 for Brandywine, with teammate John Harrison following with 15.

The Tigers also won the JV contest, 63-37.

Panther Valley turned up the intensity in the fourth frame to pull away from Hamburg for their first win of the season, 60-44.

Tristin Blasko put up 16 points for the Panthers (1-1), while Rene Figueroa followed with 13 and Brandon Stilitino hit four threes for 12.

Reese Adam and Seamus Barter both notched 10 points apiece for Hamburg.

The Panthers also prevailed in the JV contest, 37-33.

Northampton erupted for 25 points in the fourth frame to pull away from Lehighton for a 54-34 non-league win.

Leading the Konkrete Kids in scoring was Aidan Ellwood with 26 points.

For the Indians (1-2), TaQuan Bradley-Chambers scored nine, while Addison Howland added seven.
