Karnish earns All-Region honors at Misericordia
Marian graduate Brenna Karnish recently earned NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-Region honors.
The selections were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season.
The Misericordia sophomore was named to the Mideast Region team for her performance in the shot put in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
Karnish had a runner-up finish in the shot put (41-5) at the AARTFC Outdoor Track & Field Championships last month. Previously, she was fourth in the shot put (40-7.75) and discus (124-3) at the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and fifth in the shot put (38-6.75) at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet.
At Marian, Karnish went to states for discus in 2014, 2015 and 2017 and for the shot put in 2016 and 2017. In 2015, she was a District 11 champion in discus.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay teams.
A total of 1915 honors were handed out to athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions, which included a near-even split between men’s (951) and women’s programs (964).
