Kidder Township votes to update fire company run cards

Published August 17. 2018 12:09PM

The Kidder Township board of supervisors agreed Thursday night to revise the run cards for the two fire companies in the township.

Township Manager Lisa Klem was advised to notify the Carbon County Communications Center that from now on both Lake Harmony and Albrightsville Fire Companies are to be called out on fire calls.

Lake Harmony Chief Ralph Lennon objected to the decision going into effect immediately.

“I thought that we had decided that Bruce (Burger, Albrightsville fire chief) and I would sit down and discuss what equipment would be going out before this went into effect,” Lennon said. “I don’t remember getting a call for any meeting.”

Supervisor Larry Polansky responded, saying he didn’t disagree with Lennon’s thought and that the discussion should still take place, but that there was no reason to wait to make the change.

“I believe that whole idea behind the change was about manpower,” Polansky said.

“Manpower is the major issue. The idea is to get the maximum number of firefighters at a call.”

In other business the supervisors accepted the resignation of part-time patrolman Michael Chica, as well as the resignation of Joseph McAleer from the Emergency Services Commission.

The lease for Schoolhouse Central was renewed for six additional months.
