Kunkletown man injured in Monroe crash

Stephen R. Rinehart, 51, of Kunkletown, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:24 a.m. Sunday on Burger Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township, according to state police at the Fern Ridge barracks.

Police said he sustained head and right eye injuries and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, in the West End Ambulance. The severity of his injuries is unknown.

Police said he was driving a 2002 BMW southbound on Burger Hollow Road at an excessive rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. It traveled into the opposing lane, crossed over the left shoulder and struck multiple trees before flipping onto its driver’s side. Rinehart needed to be extricated from the vehicle.

Rinehart was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance.

The car was towed from the scene.
