Lansford man charged with assaulting girls

Coaldale Police have arrested a Lansford man for inappropriate contact with minors.

A child line report was received on Feb. 11 indicating that Peter Sorokaput, 40, of West Kline Avenue, had molested two young girls, a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old.

Police interviewed Sorokaput on Thursday, when he admitted having sexual contact with the 7-year-old on three separate occasions and once with the younger child.

He was arraigned before duty District Magisterial Judge David Rossi on charges of rape of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, incest, indecent assault of a minor, child endangerment and indecent exposure.

Rossi set bail at $100,000 straight cash, sending Sorokaput to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.
