Lansford man pleads guilty to endangering charge

Published March 06. 2018 06:06AM

A Lansford man entered a guilty plea to a charge of endangering the welfare of a child plus other counts on Friday in Carbon County court.

Anthony Salvatore Rivituso, 28, also pleaded to one count each of unauthorized use of an automobile, theft and access device fraud.

He was arrested by Lansford police for incidents on Nov. 17 and 21, 2017. The endangering count stems from an incident in which he took his mother’s car without permission and police found bags of illegal drugs in his possession while he had his then-18-month-old daughter with him. The theft and access device fraud cases also involve his mother as the victim.

Rivituso admitted to a drug problem. Before his arrest in the instant cases, he had no prior contacts with law enforcement.

He told Judge Joseph J. Matika, “I would do anything to get this done. I’m done.”

He said he was through using illegal substances.

Rivituso, an inmate in the county prison on the charges, was sentenced to time-served (94 days) to one day less 24 months on the endangering charge and one year probation on the other counts totaling two years. He must also get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and render a total of 100 hours of community service.
