Lansford teen travels to New Orleans to race in kart series
Lansford teen Anthony Soberick is traveling to New Orleans this weekend to compete in the 2018 ROK Festival as a member of the TANDA Racing team. Soberick has been racing go karts with TANDA and team owner Trei Smith for the past two years.
The race will be held at NOLA Motorsports Park. The second ROK Festival will be held in July at Oakland Valley Raceway Park in Cuddebackville, New York. The series is managed by CEO Garett Potter of ROK Cup USA, with sponsorship by VORTEX.
Winners will receive ROK the Rio and International Finals tickets, which offers the opportunity to join Team USA in South Garda, Italy.
Soberick will be competing in the highly competitive seniors class, which features some of the best karters from throughout the United States. He will be piloting a PRAGA Dragon Evo chassis, powered by a Vortex ROK GP, 125cc, water-cooled engine.
Practice rounds will be held on Friday, with heats and qualifying on Saturday. The main event will be held on Sunday.
An altar server at Immaculate Conception Church in Jim Thorpe, Soberick will be entering Marian High School in the fall as a freshman. The son of Erin and Kevin Soberick of Lansford is also an active member of the Coaldale Fire Company.
