LCCC offers info on health care careers
Lehigh Carbon Community College now offers short-term programs to assist students in learning the wide range of career skills required in the health care field. Classes are held at LCCC campuses in Allentown and Tamaqua. Free health care information sessions are held at LCCC Allentown to explore the many programs that the college offers.
Preregistration is required by calling 610-799-1669.
Dates and times are:
• Jan. 30, March 19 or May 14 at 5 p.m.
• Feb. 19, April 15 or June 17 at 9 a.m.
Nurse Aide Orientation sessions are offered at no cost to people but are required before enrolling in the training program. Orientations are offered at LCCC’s Allentown or Tamaqua campuses on the following dates:
• LCCC Tamaqua: May 22 at 10 a.m. or 4 p.m.
• LCCC Allentown: Feb. 11 or May 19 at 1 p.m.
• LCCC Allentown: March 31 or July 7 at 5 p.m.

LCCC will also hold Emergency Medical Technician training programs in Lehigh County for people who are likely to respond to pre-hospital emergencies or those considering a medical career. Upon successful completion, students 18 years or older will be eligible to test for the National Registry EMT credential. Minimum age of 16 is required to enroll in the class.
Interested candidates must attend a free information session. One is scheduled for 7 tonight at the Emergency Medicine Institute located at 2100 Mack Boulevard in Allentown.
Additional requirements include the submission of a physician release form and proof of medical insurance.
EMI will hold an evening EMT Basic class from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 4 through June 11, with several Saturday sessions. A fee of $1,100 does not include text or equipment.
