Published December 09. 2019 12:06PM

Lehigh Carbon Community College’s SHINE after-school program has received an Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program donation from Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, a leading producer of natural gas in northeastern Pennsylvania and a community partner in support of education, nonprofit organizations, cultural events and health care facilities.

The donation of $20,000 is part of an initiative that partners with the Schools and Homes In Education Programs in Carbon and Luzerne counties and will provide $10,000 to each location. These funds will be used to support SHINE’s afterschool Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math initiatives.

LCCC’s SHINE model is a nationally recognized after-school program operating in school districts in Carbon, Schuylkill and Luzerne counties. The Carbon/Schuylkill SHINE program is administered by LCCC, and more than a thousand students are involved in the SHINE programs throughout northeastern Pennsylvania.
