A Lehigh County resident admitted to a charge of simple assault on Monday in Carbon County court.

Kyle A. Scerbo, 22, of Allentown, entered the plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass for an incident on Sept. 3 in Palmerton.

Borough police responded to a residence along Harvard Avenue for a reported domestic dispute. On scene a woman told the officers that Scerbo, identified as her boyfriend at the time, had pushed her to the ground and assaulted her. In a plea bargain, a felony count of strangulation was dropped.

Scerbo’s attorney, Matthew J. Rapa, said his client was currently in counseling.

Serfass sentenced him to time-served (30 days) to 12 months and ordered he get a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, attend and successfully complete an anger management course, render 50 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
