Lehigh man admits to harassing state police
A Lehigh County man admitted in Carbon County court on Monday to posting harassing messages on his Facebook page directed at state police at the Lehighton barracks.
He entered a guilty plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic.
Jason John Duddek, 33, of New Tripoli, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a misdemeanor three, in exchange for a charge of terroristic threats being dropped by the district attorney’s office in a plea bargain.
Duddek admitted posting threatening remarks on his Facebook account directed at troopers at the Lehighton barracks in August. When confronted by troopers about the posts, Duddek admitted he made them.
Defense Attorney Matthew J. Rapa said his client made the postings due to a prior incident that occurred some time ago.
He said he has expressed remorse to the police for his actions.
Since the incident, Duddek submitted to a mental health evaluation and is receiving counseling.
Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to continue his counseling sessions.
