LEHIGHTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
Lehighton Borough Council took the following action on Monday:
• Held a second Community Development Block Grant public meeting. The borough expects to receive $102,906; of that, $84,383 is for project implementation for the construction of 20 ADA ramps, while the other $18,523 is for administrative costs for Carbon County to administer the grants.
• Approved the 2019 MMO for the police pension fund in the amount of $191,278, which represents a $13,479 increase over this year’s $177,799 figure.
• Approved the 2019 nonuniform MMO fund in the amount of $169,322, which represents a $47,051 increase over this year’s $122,271 figure.
• Approved the proposed changes to the 2018 Alley Paving Program, which will include paving the alley between Blue Ridge Pressure Castings and the Baer Memorial Swimming Pool, along with a portion of King Alley, instead of a section of Queen Alley and Center Alley. Queen and Center alleys will be reviewed further for the 2019 budget.
• On a 6-0 vote, with an abstention from Councilman Joe Flickinger, approved the Act 172 resolution.
• Agreed to have borough Manager Nicole Beckett obtain proposals for the traffic engineering study for the completion of the required PennDOT documentation for the no-left turn on Ninth and Union streets.
• Agreed to have borough solicitor Jim Nanovic draft a license to allow G&F Management’s tenant to park on borough property located behind 116 and 118 Carbon St.
• Approved the retirement notice of Public Works Department employee Greg Mriss, effective the end of this year.
• Adopted an ordinance amending the transient Circus, Carnival and Amusement Ride requirements.
• Approved the half-marathon April 14 along the D&L Trail.
