LEHIGHTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
Lehighton Borough Council, on a 6-0 vote, with Councilman Darryl Arner absent, took the following action on Monday:
• Opted against a resolution requesting $573,245 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Multimodal Transportation Fund, as well as the funding commitment letter for the PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund.
• Approved the final payment application for the Baer Memorial Park improvements in the amount of $110,691.
• Approved a resolution supporting RESTORE Pennsylvania, a $4.5 billion infrastructure improvement plan.
• Held its second Community Development Block Grant public hearing, at which time it was stated the borough would receive $105,367 in total funds to install a Challenge Course to update the Grove. Of that, $86,401 is for project costs, while the other $18,966 is for administrative costs.
• Agreed to purchase security cameras for the Recreation Center ($2,500) and The Grove ($6,240).
• Tabled a resolution granting the borough manager the authority to execute the sidewalk maintenance agreement for the Route 443 project.
• Approved the Subdivision and Land Development time extension request until Dec. 31 for the Joseph and Debra Kay Bennett Blakeslee Boulevard Project.
• Approved the bidding and the sale of the 2006 Ford F450 Bucket Truck on Municibid.
• Approved a request to hold the Fifth Annual Snowflake 5K and Remembrance Weekend on Dec. 7.
• Denied a request from the Jim Thorpe Lions to have the Lehighton Fire Police assist with traffic control for the Halloween parade on Oct. 26.
