Lehighton Borough Council on Monday took the following action:

• Tabled the Police Chief Employment Agreement until the FOP Collective Bargaining Agreement is finalized.

• Approved payment application 2 to Unity Electric, LLC in the amount of $139,356.

• Approved change order 2 for the Iron/Bridge Street circuit upgrade project, extending final completion date to Jan. 15.

• Approved a resolution setting the 2018 salaries for nonunion employees and professional staff with a 2 percent increase.

• Agreed to put up a sign at a parking space in front of the Lehighton Area Memorial Library that says one-hour parking.

• Agreed to have solicitor Jim Nanovic draft an ordinance concerning a no parking request on Bridge Street, north side, from Second to Union Street, and about 20 feet west of Union, which would eliminate three parking spaces.

• Approved the St. Luke’s DOT Regulated Random Testing Consortium Agreement for the CDL Random Testing requirement.

• Agreed to have winter maintenance on Division Alley occur at the discretion of the borough manager and Public Works superintendent on a per-incident basis.

• On a 5-1 vote, with one abstention, reappointed Mark Hoffman to a three-year term on the Shade Tree Commission. Councilman Scott Rehrig was opposed. Councilwoman Helen Torok abstained.

• On a 6-1 vote, reappointed Diane Hoffman to a three-year term on the Shade Tree Commission. Rehrig was opposed.

• Reappointed Judy Wingert and Sara Wingert to three-year terms on the Shade Tree Commission.

• Appointed Sherri Steigerwalt as deputy tax collector per Act 164-2014.

• Reappointed Louise Christman to the Parks & Recreation Committee for a one-year term.

• Reappointed Chris Schnell to the Property Maintenance Board.

• Reappointed Richard Barclay to the Lehighton Water Authority.

• Approved the transfer of Lorenzo’s Ristorante Inc. liquor license.

• Approved the list of winners for the Christmas Light Competition.

• Adopted an ordinance amending borough code regarding penalties for utilities.

• Approved the fifth annual 5K Earth Day Hippie Run/Walk on April 21.
